What a Pinterest Strategist can do for your business

by Hayley Schmidt, Effective Admin

Before we begin, I want to clear up one major misconception.

Pinterest is not a social media platform. Shocked? Many people are when I tell them.

And it’s because it’s not a SM platform that many businesses overlook it as a powerful marketing tool. But it’s honestly one of the best ways to drive traffic to your website or blog.

There’s over 335 million people using Pinterest each month. That’s a lot of people in anyone’s books. And with that many people, I’m sure you’ll find your ideal audience somewhere in there.

If you’re into facts:

  • 71% of Pinterest users are female

  • 83% of these females are in the 25-54 age group

  • They are ready to buy or pinning their inspiration path to purchase

So, if this sounds like your ideal audience, why aren’t you using Pinterest?

But I’m not sure my business is suitable for Pinterest…

Pinterest is perfect for any business who are content creators, like professional bloggers, businesses who write blogs, podcasters, shop owners and course creators.

But I’m a big believer that any business can find success on Pinterest if your ideal audience is mentioned above, and you’ve got products or services that suit them.

You need to think about the ‘why’ of Pinterest. People use it to find answers or products. They are often playing, creating inspiration boards and finding businesses they may consider.

They are looking for inspiration and solutions for their needs and wants. And you’d be surprised what people look for:

  • A crocheted Matthew McConaughey (not one of my creations FYI)

  • A wine bra (I bet all mum’s home schooling are about to look this up)

  • Mouse cage necklaces (I know right – eek!)

Through to the business side:

  • Working from home (more and more lately)

  • Starting a blog

  • Turning a passion into profit

So, any business can tap into the Pinterest market to get more hits on your blogs, your sales pages or your retail stores.

On a side note, the most searched topics are décor, travel, food, education tips, fashion, how to work remotely, and how to start a business from home. Pin that to your business inspiration board!

Why do people use a Pinterest Strategist?

So many people use Pinterest on a personal level, that they’ve never considered using it for business and don’t know how to change their thinking to understand how to use Pinterest as a marketing tool

Clients use a Pinterest Strategist to:

  • Work out a winning Pinterest strategy

  • Manage it on a daily, weekly or monthly basis

  • Create pin graphics

  • Write SEO/Keyword based pin descriptions

  • Create, edit and manage Pinterest boards

  • Post new pin content into the platform

  • Schedule pin posting

  • Interact and share content in Tailwind tribes (community)

Here’s a real-life example of how a Pinterest Strategist helps business

As with any form of marketing, you need to understand that Pinterest is not about you. Sorry! It’s always about your customer.

Being present on Pinterest gives you a chance to be a part of your customer’s journey. Even if they’re not ready to buy yet, the fact they find you and pin you to a board is great news.

Allianna, a personal chef and food blogger in the Paleo living space, was happy she was receiving 500 unique views a month. She was looking to outsource her Pinterest management as she was finding it too distracting (you know the drill – you start scrolling and then lose an hour or two).

After an initial review, it was clear that her Pinterest account needed to be refreshed:

  • Her bio

  • The look and feel of her pins

  • Ensuring every pin posted had SEO descriptions

  • Her call to actions

  • Joining Tailwind tribes to share, contribute and create a community of like-minded business owners

Sprinkling a bit of Pinterest magic and using tried and tested techniques, her unique views grew to over 70,000 in 6 weeks.

Needless to say, Allianna was overjoyed with the result.

As I’m sure you would be.

Don’t miss out on Pinterest marketing opportunities for your business any longer!
