What can an online presence manager do for you?

I bet you’re thinking, what the heck is an online presence manager? And rightfully so. I may have made that up to cover a few roles in one!

Think of an online presence manager as your digital communication expert combined with a social media manager.

In a fast-evolving world where more and more businesses are now being forced to work online, you must be absolutely nailing your communication with your customers.

Think about a shop scenario. You used to walk into a shop, and you’d meet a bubbly salesperson who’d tell you that jumper looks fabulous, that it’s on sale and hey, you should totally buy the matching scarf.

These days, you’re more likely to buy that jumper online.

So, as a business owner, you must be an online sales champion to ‘talk’ to your customers and make those sales.

And this is where an online presence manager comes into play.

Why do people use an online presence manager?

Honestly, for most people, it’s because they don’t have the time, or the energy, to invest in maintaining their online presence.

Clients use an online presence manager to:

  • Develop a social media strategy, so you’re not willy nilly hit and miss posting and hoping for the best

  • Create content for your social channels that your customers will love, and that is on point with your brand

  • Keep you engaged with your audience by making sure questions, and comments are responded to

  • Write blogs and articles for your website for SEO purposes, along with creating social posts to direct traffic through

  • Develop landing pages, sales funnels and automated email sequences to help you make more sales

  • Update your website to keep it current, making sure it’s functioning and not being penalised by Google

In a digital world, business owners know they need to be online to exist. But when it’s not your passion, it’ll become another one of those business chores you let lapse.

And believe me, that’s the last thing you want to do!

Here’s a real-life example of how an online presence manager can help business

COVID-19…

A little bug that’s threatened business owner’s livelihood all around Australia (and the world). And it’s affected many of us in different ways.

Some of us saw a slump in business before it picked back up, some have experienced business as usual, and some have had to shut up their shops and hope for the best.

It’s been an incredibly challenging time for shop owners, restaurants, cafes, beauty therapists and hairdressers.

So, they’ve had to get inventive and up their game.

Poor Julia, a hairdresser, was forced (for the second time), to shut her doors. This second time around was going to be tough. She decided that one thing she could do to survive was to sell her hairdressing products.

With more women needing to take care of their own hair, it made sense that they’d want high-quality, salon products.

Yes sure, they wouldn’t look as fabulous as if she was doing their hair, but they still deserve to look and feel their best.

Social media was her go-to for selling her products. But she didn’t know how.

Cue the online presence manager!

Helping her to nail the messaging, create an appealing post, and schedule the post at precisely the right time, Julia made a sale within the first 90 minutes of her Facebook post being live.

She was absolutely thrilled. And the sales continued to roll in.

No matter what business you’re in, communication is always the key. One thing’s for sure - this year has shown us how vital it is to stay in touch with people.

If you’re not communicating online, you’re not being heard

No matter what business you’re in, communication is always the key. One thing’s for sure - this year has shown us how vital it is to stay in touch with people.

When you’re working remotely, it’s harder for people to learn who you are and meet you.

That’s where your online presence, and how you communicate with your audience, can make or break you. It helps if you are active online, across multiple digital spaces:

  • Social media

  • Website (blogs)

  • Emails

Doing this gives you a better chance of reaching people, increasing your brand awareness and setting you up as an expert (or at least an incredible person who freely shares knowledge!).

A final piece of advice for your online presence

Recent stats have revealed that 1/3 of Aussies look at a business’s social media platforms before they make an enquiry or purchase and that businesses who blog get over 50% more traffic than those who don’t.

If you’re not active online, you’re giving your competitors a massive advantage.
