How do you want to be found? What do you want to be found for? Who do you want to be found by?

I’m a firm believer that when you know the answers to these questions – YOU WILL BE FOUND. The power of attraction is amazing. Once you know what you want – you’ll do more to achieve it and you’ll see the right opportunities when they appear.

This month I want you to clarify what this all looks like for you.

How do you want to be found?

What works best for you? Do you want to be found through word of mouth? Through social media marketing? SEO? Articles or Blog Posts? Which are those that feel most appropriate for you? Does this work in with your network and ideal client? By this I mean – will those around you support your mission to be found and will your ideal client see you in that sphere?

You may need to test the waters with promoting yourself. See what works and what doesn’t. If it doesn’t work – learn from it. Nothing is a failure unless you don’t learn from it.

If word of mouth is something you want to increase there are a few areas to consider:

  1. Having a great service and not letting anyone down
  2. Building your network
  3. Educating your network about what you do and what sort of clients you are looking for
  4. Acknowledging referrals

What do you want to be found for?

Being found for something you don’t offer is not helpful! You need to be found for the service you love to offer – the service you thrive in. So make sure you are always walking the walk and talking the talk – tell people what you love, show people what you love and do an amazing job – because you love it!

Who do you want to be found by?

Knowing who you want to work with is a powerful tool. Working with the wrong people can drain you, end up in errors being made, cause frustration, lack of productivity and of course this will result in poor performance and no referrals.

Your ideal client should have 3 characteristics

  1. Really need what you offer
  2. Respect what you offer
  3. Can pay for what you offer

You need to clarify more than this to really make the most of your marketing and strategic development, but these are non-negotiables. Make sure you know who falls into those 3 categories above and be clear on what the 3 categories above entail.

Finally, our global economy means that you are one of millions of businesses fighting for attention. But it also means you have more capability to get out there. Your business community doesn’t have to be huge – quality communities can be amazing for morale, learning, referrals and resources. So never underestimate what a small but effective community can do for you and your business.

What’s your top tip for “getting found”?
